The caves

The Castellana caves are the gateway to the Valle d’Itria in the south east corner of the Murge hills. Located, 300 metres above sea level on a limestone plain formed some  90 - 100 million years ago during the Cretaceous periodthat followed the Jurassic era.
The passage through the caves is some 3km long and 70 metres deep. Guided tours will take you through poetically-
named caverns, deep crevices, fossils, stalactites and stalagmites forming incredible shapes and surprising colours.
A wonderful and unmissable opportunity to experience and admire the natural and diverse environment – the wonders of Puglia.
